We were invited to paint this mural withย palmafestivalย โ it was great to connect with people who share our vision for public art and are working hard to push the movement forward. This wall gave us a chance to experiment with new tools, we built our own brush โ the Octopusโข โ to bring the energy of a single brushstroke to a massive scale. Not to imitate the effect, but to actually lay down each line in one movement.
We are very happy to finally share this new edition with you, translating our painting into textile. It’s something we’ve never done in this way before, and weโre excited about the results.
This new series of three textile ‘posters’ by BFC is crafted entirely by hand using traditional appliquรฉ techniques. While the crew has worked in this technique in the past, this is the first time they have produced works as an edition. Each piece is a tactile colourful collage of layered fabrics, hand cut, stitched, and composed. The works are the result of an experimental process of exchange between Deso, Tant and Unga, each image evolving in symbiosis with the next, oscillating between figuration and abstraction.
Each work is limited to an edition of 20, signed and numbered.ย ย It is ready to hang on the wall and does not require framing.ย
To celebrate this special drop, weโve decided to give away the 3 original sketches (acrylic on paper). We will randomly put them in 3 of the boxes, and three lucky bastards will get an original work alongside the fabric work!
Pho Viet 101 in N16 is our favourite place to eat in the neighbourhood. We love the food but also the people that make it, it is a real family business. For years they didnโt have a sign so we made them one
We were invited byย Jerusalem Design Weekย to present this work as part of their exhibition atย Hansen House
We made the images into an installation postcards and encouraged each visitor to choose one and send it to a loved one, posting it in a mailbox installed at the exhibition. At the end of each day, you could see which postcards were more popular – and reflect on the daily shifts in the collective state of mind.
